Main Features and Functions of Numerical Control Milling Machine (Especially named CNC Vertical/Horizontal Machining Center)

Compared with Universal Milling Machine, Main Features of CNC Vertical Machining Center are as follows:

1.        Machine parts processing has strong adaptability and good flexibility, which can be processed outline shape special complex product or part size which is difficult to control, such as mold parts, shell parts, etc.;

2.        Numerical Control Milling Machine can process the machining the complex parts that universal lathe cannot do, such as the complexity curve described by mathematical model and three-dimensional curved surface parts;

Main Functions of Numerical Control Milling Machine

1.       Position Control Function

Position control of CNC milling machine is mainly used for machining the hole, such as the center drill positioning, drilling, reaming, counter boring, reaming and bore hole machining operation.

2.       Continuous Control Function

Workpiece’s surface and plane are milling by numerical control milling machine of straight line interpolation, arc interpolation or complex curve interpolation.

3.       Tool Radius Compensation Function

If program according to the workpiece contour line directly, when machining the interior contour, the actual contour line will be greater than one tool radius value; when machining the exterior contour, the actual contour line will be smaller than one tool radius value. Using tool radius compensation method, the numerical control system calculates tool center path automatically, which makes the cutting tool center deviates from the workpiece contour one toolradius value, thus process an outline of the drawings which can meet the requirements. Taking advantage of the function of tool radius compensation, it also can compensate the cutting tool wear amount and machining error, realizing roughing and finish machining of workpiece.

4.       Tool Length Compensation Function

Change the tool length compensation amount, which can compensate length deviation value after tool changing, and also can change the cutting plane position, control of axial positioning precision of the cutting tool.

5.       Fixed cycle processing function

The Application of fixed circulation processing instruction can simplify the process and then reduce the workload of programming.

6.       Subroutine function

If the processing workpieces’ shape is same or similar, write it as a subroutine, called by the main program, which simplify the structure of program. Refer subroutine function to make machining program modular, and divided into several modules accordingto the processing procedure, write into a subroutine respectively, called by the main program, and finish the machining of workpiece. This kind of modular program is easier for facilitating processing and debugging, and optimizing of process.
